Why Viscotak? Viscotak aids in extracapsular lens extraction to maintain the anterior chamber and to expand the capsular bag to facilitate insertion of a posterior chamber intraocular  lens.  Alternatively  air may be used to  maintain  the  anterior  chamber,  but  it  may escape  with  sudden  flattening  of  the  anterior chamber with  the risk  of  the lens touching  the corneal endothelium thus affecting the integrity  of  the  cornea. Viscotak also provides endothelial protection, epithelial coating, and lubrication for IOL injectors. Viscotak is a dispersive Viscoelastic that sustains the endothelium ultimately protecting it along with the corneal cells from instrumental trauma. Enables better manipulation and movement inside the anterior segment along with Visual clarity resulting in precision in the surgical procedure without much damage. Hypromellose (hpmc 2%)
