COMPOSITION-

Deflazacort 6 mg.

Pharmacology

Deflazacort is a corticosteroid prodrug with mainly glucocorticoid activity and posses anti-inflammatory & immunosuppressive activities. The precise mechanism by which deflazacort exerts its therapeutic effects in patients with DMD is unknown but as per literary data Deflazacort works by acting within cells to prevent the release of inflammatory mediators in the treatment of severe allergic reactions, inflammation of lungs in asthma and inflammation of joints in arthritis. It also decreases the number of WBCs circulating in the blood and is therefore useful in the treatment of certain types of leukaemia and autoimmune diseases.

Indication and Usage

Inflammation of skin and eye
Muscular disorders such as Arthritis and Rheumatic disorders.
Skin allergies and severe rash.
Respiratory diseases such as Asthma.
Autoimmune Diseases- Uveitis, Sarcoidosis, Autoimmune Hepatitis etc.

Dosage and Administration

Adult: Initially, up to 120 mg daily. Maintenance: 3-18 mg daily. Child: 0.25-1.5 mg/kg daily or on alternate days. Or as prescribed by your eye doctor.

Warning and Precaution

Before using PCORT -DZ 6 TABLET please tell your doctor about all kind of allergies you have and also drug may induces secondary adrenocortical insufficiency may be minimized by gradual reduction of dosage if not such then contact to your doctor. ADVERSE EFFECTS-
