Mode of Action: Polymyxin B sulfate in Takchlor Eye OINTMENT interacts with the lipopolysaccharide present in the cytoplasmic outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and dissolves the fatty acid region of the cytoplasmic membrane. This ultimately alters the membrane permeability causing the leakage of cell constituent resulting in bacterial cell death. Chloramphenicol in Takchlor Eye OINTMENTS is bacteriostatic and binds to the bacterial ribosome thereby blocking peptidyl transferase responsible for chain elongation in the process of Protein Synthesis thus resulting in bacterial cell death. Having broad spectrum and is active against many bacterial strains including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, andEscherichia coli.

Bacterial conjunctivitis, Bacterial blepharitis and superficial ocular bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms:

• Pseudomonas aeruginosa
• Enterobacter aerogenes
• Streptococcus pneumoniae
• Klebsiella pneumoniae
• Escherichia coli
• Haemophilus influenzae
• Neisseria species
• Staphylococcus aureus

Apply 1/2 inch ribbon 2-3 times daily or as recommended by the Doctor.

1. To avoid contamination, do not touch bottle tip on any surface and avoid direct contact with the eye.
2. Hypersensitivity towards any of the component.
3. Growth of Resistant Organisms with Prolonged Use.

Adverse Effects: Temporary Burning, Stinging, Irritation, Itching, Redness, Blurred Vision and Light sensitivity or allergic reaction may occur.
